feeling the moment

line

Sometimes the moment prompts me to speak,
and sometimes it prompts me to stay silent.

Sometimes it demands stillness,
and sometimes action.

Sometimes it insists that I hang in there,
and, other times, it urges me to walk away.

When I feel what it is asking
rather than try to figure it out,
I end up surfing life’s waves,
rather than getting smacked by them.

Some see this as a passive way to live.
I see it as an active way
to connect and merge
with the ocean.
